Getting all this Omnisky crap off my Prism?
Has anyone yet figured out how to get
all this Omnisky "Content" to simply
go away? When I put the module in,
it loads up lots of PQAs (including some
for companies that have gone out of
business), a useless mail reader, a
useless browser, and a bunch of
"content" (read: ads) I am not interested
in looking at. Oh, and Yahoo Messenger,
which I don't use. All told, nearly
two megabytes of redundant cruft.
If anyone knows of a method for getting
rid of this stuff, please let me know!
Failing that, I'm going to try to hack
the built-in flash myself. Wish me luck.

You may hate this answer, but I got rid of Omnisky after having it for 7 months. I use Verizon with Motorola Timeport, a $39 cable from www.cables4pdas.com and Avantgo (free). I bought a case used and attach the phone to the back. It is not as svelte as Omnisky, but I have connected on a boat between Martha's Vineyard and Boston, in the middle of a building in Houston and 90 miles outside Chicago near Rockford. It is also much faster than Omnisky and I don't have to pay $40 a month for it. My Verizon bills have not gone up very much either. I have been dialing in to my Prodigy account and getting everything I need through it. Sorry if this is not helpful, but it is a way for me to get rid of all of that Omnisky stuff. The only thing I need is a connection in Network and Avantgo.
