Motorola 270c & Visor Pro
I've tried searching through past threads for an answer...and have found a lot of helpful hints. However, I'm still stuck with a problem and hoping that someone out there has an answer.
I have:
a Motorola Timeport 270c
a Visor Pro
a '120010H' (product # from www.thesupplynet.com) cable
AOL access
My goal is to have the Timeport act as a modem for internet access. My phone service provider is Qwest and the phone is data capable & data ready. I have created a new 'Connection' under 'Preferences' on the Visor. The following settings were used:
Name: Cellular
Connection Method: Serial to Modem
Dialing: Touchtone
Volume: Low
Speed: 14,400
Country: Other
Flow Ctrl: Off
String: I have tried leaving this blank, as well as using AT&FX4
Thus far, I have gotten NOTHING but modem not found errors. Qwest support sends me to Motorola ... Motorola sends me to thesupplynet ... the supplynet folks tried, but still no access.
Just a note, I was able to successly use my Thinmodem and have created a successful connection that way. However, my 'Cellular' connection is, simply put, not connecting.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
i dont know if this is going to work but...
see if theres a place on the phone to turn serial connections on. i have a nokia 8290 and i have to turn the IR on before i connect it with my prism.
hope it helps...
Have you tried changing the country to United States? I know that on a visor Deluxe the country needs to be set to other, but I just connected using a supply net cable and a visor platinum and a motorola 120c with country set to United States. Also, have you downloaded the PDA software from AOL.com? This is what my instruction from supply net say to do for AOL users.
Thanks for the suggestion...I tried changing the country to US, but had no luck. I've experimented a LOT w/the settings and am about to give up. Could the cable just be a dud? Other than a successful 'connect', is there any way to ensure that the Visor and the phone are 'communicating', i.e. actually connected?
