Ok...I admit, I'm getting to like it. Now I feel really bad All of these recommendations sound like it will make VC Awesome. Customizing the Website? I love it. and I think the main thing that was bugging me was the fixed width, When that changes, It'll be awesome. Please forgive me for my previous comments And uh...keep up the good work.

Oh and I also agree with everyone that said keep the news items in chronological order. It just makes more sense.

Amen brother. As you said many people have their browsers set to below 800x600 resolution. I'd like to add that flexibility will also help those who set their browsers to MORE than 800x600. I can't stand opening an 1152x864 window only to see a dinky 400-pixel column of text and 752 pixels of blank space.

from a coding standpoint variable-width sites (the technical term) are not hard to build at all. It's just the testing that you have to do to make sure everything wraps properly that takes time.

Talking

Well, here's my cosmetic ideas:

1) Replace that dull-gray background with a ribbed one ala Visor. It would be unobtrusive, but it would probably spruce up the site.
2) Here's an idea, why not make the buttons slightly larger, and have Icons on them that would mimic the ones on the Visor's silkscreen , to the very left of the text.
3) How about getting rid of the boring "post reply" and "new topic" buttons on the forum, and replacing them with icon ones that mimic the ones on the visor? For the dummies who visit the site, just use the mouse-over code that displays text instead of the URL of the link on the bottom bar on your browser!

Well?

v3 is okay.

Please get rid of the spooky watermarked "vinnieback" background. The stick figure behind the stories looks like a harbinger of death, quite spooky. I am scared.

I took a look at the new site and really like it. I haven't read this entire forum so don't yell at me if I address things that have already been brough up. I do some web desgin and understand how much work you have put into it so I won't rip it to shreds, not that it should be ripped to shreds.

When I first saw the new logo I missed the old one but now like it since it adds to the clean look of the site. I don't like the advertisment at the top because I think it overpowers your logo which should not be the case.

For the navigation bar I could go either way for the mouseover color. I like how it is really faint but I also could see that a darker rollover could look nice. My laptop has a very faint screen so colors often look different then they should. At one point I was building a site on it and I used a very nice light brown but then on a CRT monitor it looked like barf green .

When I just look at the center at let my eyes wander they first goto your picture of the Xircom module then they goto the right top of the screen. I don't know if this is where you want people to first look or not. The logo is one of the last things that I see, could be good or could be bad personal preference. In terms of the text headings they are first drawn to the blue ones and then to the yellow/orange one for your top story.

Other than that I really like this site, good job VC Staff.

AvantGo channel updated with new logo!

Hey, did you guys notice that the AvantGo channel for Visorcentral has been updated with the new logo? Cool.

As for V3 of the website, I must say that at first I didn't like it, but after revisiting it again, I realise that it was because I was so familiar with the current website that I found the change a little jarring.

Now, I think it's looking pretty good.

I guess I blew my cover here...

I am, as I TAKE it, a writer for visorcentral. (mail me.. [email protected] ). I don't get paid, but I'm starting to write enough to get near that status (well, actually not.. I ahve too much fun anways..)But I also test thigns out, and help as much as I can here and there.. Ask James why I don't have staff next to my avaitor...

I guess that comment was a bit out of line, but in real life you can't retract what you said, and it's not good habits to learn to do that online.. it's for historical purposes. I apologize.

Maybe there isn't enough money in their budget?

I, for one, have thought of you as one of the staff for awhile. Maybe it's a function of age?

(Shockingly, Peracto was found guilty of Ageism today in Federal Court. In a stunning decision, that will surely change the way we appreciate volunteer work by talented teens, the Supreme Court has, for all intents and purposes, told Peracto they must give the plucky teenager known as Miradu2000 a 'Staff' credit under his screen name retroactive to his 400th post. We were unable to reach Miradu2000 for comment as he was locked in his room and online.)
