-- Are PQAs really usefull? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10483)

I've browsed the entire library at Palm.net for useful PQAs. I've found a few promising ones but even they are so limited or bland they aren't as exciting as I expected when I first bought my Minstrel S for my Prism.
Many of them don't work or haven't been updated lately, if ever.

Is it that they were/are written primarily for the Palm VII, with it's non-color display and slow speed, or is there something new on the horizon developers are holding out for? Or perhaps I'm missing something ?

You are correct, I have found a few that no longer work at all.
Although they are not in color, I do find the speed acceptable with OmniSky.
The ones I have found most usefull..
Northwest Airlines (new for 12/00)
RDS Airport (get flight status of any major US Airport)
Date4Me (you can send a text message to virtually any pager ot text telephone)

There are some others that look like fun, but I have not taken time to download yet.

I wish that my Visor DLX could use PQA's. I have a Palm VIIx as well as a Minstrel S for my Visor, and I find that some PQA's are extreamly useful , such as weather, com or the stock lookup program.

All the most useful PQAs seem to have cousins available on the Web. I can get a stock quote in seconds using Blazer -> Yahoo WAP mode. I can get flight status from any of the airlines' home pages. I can find any Starbucks coffee from Vicinty.com, not needing the Starbucks PQA. I can get weather in a heartbeat or two from Waether.com.

Am i missing something? I thought the whole PQA/web clipping deal was whomped up to make up for the Palm VII's hideously low and pay-per-byte bandwidth. With a good CDPD connection (and graphics disabled) I think I can hit any of those bookmarks as quickly as someone loads a PQA.

Can't I? I'm curious.

Question Removing PQA file from HandSpring Visor

I accidently installed a .pqa file on my Visor Platinum. How can I delete the file once it's installed?

Unfortunately, it doesn't show up like the .prc files on the Palmtop or give you access to delete them.

Any suggestions?
