Infrared Adapter for laptop

I have a Gateway solo 5300, and would like to sync with my Prism using IR. The Gateway doesn't have IR so I wonder whether there's a reasonable solution to add it using a port or PC Card. I've seen a couple of products from Extended Systems (one for the USB port and one for serial) but that adds more clutter than just a sync cable. Are there any other solutions? Thanks,

Josh

www.actisys.com has better prices than extended systems btw

Josh,

I'm a little confused on this one. I would think you would just want to go with a USB sync cable, instead of I/R. (It might be a different story if your laptop already had the I/R port built in). An I/R solution will be incredibly slow compared to a USB sync. Plus it would probably cost you about the same either way.

Maybe I'm just missing something about what you want to do, though.

That's what it looks like - IR could be convenient if it was easy & cheap (say if I had a wireless ethernet card with IR built in), but I sure agree about the speed. Thanks for your reply though.

I've synched with IR... Once. It's fun to try and setup, but not very practical. Depending on your configuration (backup, etc...), it could take an hour or so and is prone to interruptions and errors.

Explorer1,

OK then between us I think the average will be 0.5, untill something quicker comes along. THanks,

Josh
