-- Wireless Hotsync (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11667)

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone has managed to hotsync their visor wirelessly using the minstrel modem and OS/YY? If anyone has and would be so kind as to detail how they did it, it would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Marty

This isn't quite the same thing, but I tried syncing Avantgo with Yada Yada & Minstrel S just to see the speed and get a feel for how long a real hotsync would take.. Well, I was more than disappointed, I kinda gave up the quest after that. But please let me know if you devise a quick way!

I have been having all kinds of difficulty wirelessly syncing also. I think the problem is that Netsync.prc just like AOL20.prc does not have an option to direct connect to a network. I am hoping this is just because this problem is relatively new and the brains out there have not solved it or think that there are not enough of us out here who want a fix. Keep loading this board with others with the problem and someone will fix it.

Yes, I and others have been able to do this. I am using YY w/minstrel modem to Hotsync with my system at home.

For setup instructions see wforde's instructions in this thread

Bret,

Thank you very much! This tool is extremely useful to me as I tend to forget my backup module at home a lot. While it is rather slow, nice to know I'm not totally helpless in the event of a hard reset. Again, thank you very much!

Has anyone look at Fusion One? I think they have a wireless sync service/product.

How are you hot syncing with a system at home using the Minstrel S? I have not figured out how to do this yet.

Thanks

I have never tried to perform a "restore" via wireless. I'm not sure if it could be done. Will hotsync still know to restore after you have modified your hotsync pref's to reflect your wireless connection?

I think as long as you know your computer's IP address, you should be ok. Am I missing something (probably)???

Marty

P.S. When I have a free hour or so, I'll hard reset my visor then try to restore it wirelessly. I'll be sure to post the results.

My thoughts were that a "restore" only happens when it finds and empty system, and when you start to change information in your Visor it would not see it as empty (I don't really understand the process that initiates a "restore").

I was hoping that someone would try to do a "wireless restore", my Prism has been working good lately and I did not want to mess with it
