-- New advertising feature (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12445)

We are considering adding a new advertising feature, and would like your input on it.

This new system would automatically fill on certain fields in banner advertisements for you based on your login status on the discussion board, however, it is important to note that it would not submit that data to the advertiser (unless you actually cliked submit etc).

Here is an example of how it would work:

A sponsor has a banner promoting a contest they are running. To enter the contest, you need to enter your e-mail address (inside a field in the banner).

If you were logged in into the discussion board, the ad system would automatically fill in your e-mail address in the field. All you would have do to enter is the click submit.

If you were not logged, the field would be blank.

I am once again stressing that the sponsor would not recieve your e-mail (unless you entered the contest).

Thoughts?

I don't see a problem with it. Your jsut going to do what Auto fill prgrams do for me, fill in my data. IT actually might make me want to enter it mroe.. I mean if it's there what the heck? Why don't I enter! (that's waht you want. .right?)

This is fine. Good luck implementing it.. I wonder though. HOw does this go with your privacy policy? I mean your not submitting anything, but your putting that person's e-mail address in broad display on THEIR machine.

It's alright with me, although my name is long enough that it hangs over the edge of the mock visor.

don't see a problem here, though the first time I saw the iambic Action Names ad it kinda took me by surprise. Then I thought hey, I already registered AN, whats iambic playing at here! Then I realised it was a VC trick and thought cool feature.

Thanks for the pic jeff, I can't see AD banners due to my filtering/anti cookie/privacy software...

I like the idea, but I think that some changes need to be made to the ads. It seems like alot of the ads have a porblem of people's sn's scrolling of the side (obviously this isn't a problem for me, but I am thinking for the benefit of the group ). Maybe you could contact the designers of the ads, and see what they can do to fix the problem.

You're welcome! I think that's the first time someone's said that they wanted to see an ad banner.
