-- IRLink kills my Stowaway (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11767)

Question

Question for you all.

I am trying to use IRLink to a Nokia8290 while using my stowaway. My stowaway is working fine until I make the IRLink and dial into the internet. Then, the stowaway stops working, and won't even work after I break the connection until I turn off and on. Is there some crazy limit to the Visor which prohibits using both IR and serial interfaces at the same time? Or is this an IRLink problem? Setup? Help!

Thanks
JakeBlues

There's only one built-in COM port, and only one thing can use it at a time (either IR or the cradle interface). Sorry.

Lightbulb

I use ComLink instead of IRLink. It's not quite as good as IRLink but at least it's free and my stowaway keyboard isn't disabled or anything if I try an IR link to my Nokia 6210. But sadly of course the IR link still fails when I'm using my stowaway. Is there no possiblity of a hack to get around the single COM port problem?

Does the Springboard slot use the COM interface or is it separate? If it's separate then surely Nokia or someone else could produce a data cable for the Springboard slot that could be used in a similar manner to the normal Nokia PC data cables. Plus you wouldn't have to bother physically aligning the IR ports. Better yet I could always get the bluetooth springboard module and battery pack for my 6210 ;-)
