connect via cell phone

i have a visor neo, an LG510 on verizon. i'm thinking about getting wireless web thru verizon, and a cable to connect my visor to my phone from gomadic or supplynet.

my question is do i have to actually dial into my isp with my pda? or do i connect my phone to web and then my pda automatically has web?

if i use the pda to dial in to my isp then why pay extra for wireless web? anyone have any experience in this and can tell me exactly what to do?

i haven't bought the cable or upgraded my service but thinking seriously about it. i don't really need email on my visor, but it would be nice to be able to chat, or get avantgo updates, etc.
