Lan/wan module using CAT5/RJ45

Is there or has there been a module to be able to connect with a network using CAT 5 cable with a RJ45 connector? I have looked but all I see is the wireless module by Xircom. I know of the 56k modem module but I would have thought someone would have made a module that would have supported this by now. I guess since handspring has gone into the phone buisness it wont be built now. I guess my next purchase will have to be a Pocket PC. unless someone can give me URL to a Visor module that can compete. Thanks for in advance for your posting.

Xircom was supposed to produce one, but it never materialized. It's unfortunate, because it probably would have been a very popular module.

I remebered reading about this, and see that it's still listed:

http://www.portsmith.com/pspda.shtml

It's a cradle, not a module. And it's main function is syncing. But the spec sheet refers to internet connectivity.

It's cumbersome and expensive, but if it actually exists, it's all we're going to get.

The one that Xircom was going to do was an actual Springboard, not the Portsmith cradle.

How about an ethernet/802.11b/modem combo? Too bad the SpringBoard is dead...

Can you say SixPak?

It is a shame that the Springboard was put out to pasture. There are so many modules that would have made sense and been very popular. A lot of the obvious ones just never happened.

I had forgot about the much fabled SixPak! I was waiting to buy any modules until that one came out, it was going to be my first.

I didn't recall it having the 802.11b though...

It didn't. I was simply refering to the concept of multi-function modules that could've/should've been.
