got to fl. with my new 56 Globalaccess modem and forgot that there is a block on our phone, for our short term renters. you must use a phone card or 800 number. got a card and could not find where to put the #s. called Xircom and they did not know. with this card you dial the 800 # then 1 for english, then your card #, a 1 for the U.S. then the # your want to dial. xircom said to call visor. is it possible to use all the #s? if so where do they go and how do you space them? is there a phonecard that is easier to use? thanks for the help jeff

You can use commas if you need to create a pause. The directions for your card sound similar to one I'm using. I was having a problem at the end of the string when you dial in the second 1 for US - it wouldn't let me dial in the phone number until the advertisement had been completed. I tried adding several commas but then ran out of spaces for numbers. I played around with the card and figured out that if I hit that second 1 twice it goes immediately to the prompt to enter the phone number you want to dial.

The other thing I found useful was to type the longest string of numbers into a memo then copy/paste it into the space in the setup - for some reason in the modem setup screen you can enter the numbers but you can't see the complete string displayed on the screen.

llama, Yes this is possible. I use a pre-paid calling card on the road to dial up my home ISP number. Here is how I do it.

1.Under dialing preferences click on "phone" now a "phone set-up" window will appear.

2. check the "dial prefix" box and type in 800 number then commas for the pause then password. For example, I have 18003250604,,,,,1,,password,1,, let me explain, 800 number first, then I have to press 1 for english. Then enter my password then to make a longdistance call press 1. Your phone tree navigation may be different. The commas make the dialer pause to get through your phone tree.

3. still in the "phone setup" screen at the top where it says "phone #" type in your local home ISP number for example ,9185553215 the comma in the front gives me more additional pause time to get through my phone tree.

4. thats it, press "OK" then "connect" to see if it works. Listen on the handset while the visor is dialing to get the hang of it. It will take time to get it right.
