Sending and Receiving Email

Okay, I'm stupid, I'm ignorant, you're right. I haven't configured my VP to send and receive emails yet. I've only gotten as far as using Bugme Messenger, but I have to query the Bugme server to see if my bugme email account has any messages.

So, which program do I use? I hear Eudora is good, but I use Outlook Express. Are they fully compatible? Where are the instructions on configuring them together?

Also, how can I get alerts on my phone that I received mail? I've got a hotmail account and a yahoo account.

How do I check my MSN Hotmail account without having to buy and pay for their little Palm program? It expires after 30-45 days or so.

It used to be so easy on my T28 to send and receive emails. It was under my mobile number at [email protected], and we could play tag all day long.

Now, I don't know how to send using that account anymore using SMS.

I CAN receive, but I'm not sure about replying. Hmm ..

Thanks for all your help! I need a quick solution that doesn't take a lot of memory! Thanks!

Eudora works quite well. It can synchronize messages from OE, but only from the Inbox folder. If you have your mail going to a different folder than this default one it won't work. Eudora allows you to delete from your inbox when you delete it on your PDA as well.

Additionally, you can use Eudora to download mail directly from your ISP's servers. This operates completely independently from the HotSync operations, other than the fact that the messages get stored in the same place on your PDA.

I know that HotMail allows you to set up alerts for new e-mails. It can also filter based on sender, subject, etc.

For Yahoo!, you have to go to Options | Filters, and then click on "Register your device". I almost didn't see this link at first -- it is at the very top of the screen. Then you can set up a new filter that forwards to your mobile device.

There really isn't an easy way to do this. You can use a specially crafted URL in Blazer that will log you in to your Hotmail account, but I'm not sure how well it works. You can find details by searching the form here. There are also third-party utilities (like Pop3Hot) that can sync your Yahoo! Mail or Hotmail to your Outlook Express inbox, which you can think HotSync using Eudora. But this doesn't give you online access...

This still works the same way (assuming you have service from VoiceStream -- if it is Cingular then I'm not sure how they set it up). If someone sends an e-mail to your SMS address, you can tap Reply and send a response. You can send a new outgoing e-mail (with VoiceStream) by using "500" as the "To:" number, and then put the e-mail address as the first line of your message.

Hope this will help you out!
