Ericsson T28 with DI28 adapter

Does anyone have any experience with DI28 infrared adapter for the Ericsson T28. I understand it works fine, but wanted to hear some comments on how sturdy the adapter is. Can it be left on with out fear of breaking off, I carry the phone in my pocket. Also can the phone be charged, and hands-free be used while the adapter is in place?

Thanks for your help,

Tom

If I recall correctly, the DI28 adaptor not does let you use a handsfree set while it's installed. It also does not let you charge the phone via a pass through port on the bottom of the DI 28.

I'm pretty sure because check out how the DI 28 looks like...how would you put the handsfree on?

It is also not that sturdy... I'm pretty active with my mobile gadgets and I wouldn't want to have the DI 28 snap off the phone.

Thanks for the response. I had the same impression looking at the photos, but had not read any comments on its durability either way.

Thanks again,

Tom

I actually have and used the DI28 modem. It's a nice little gadget for an IR connection using my Palm IIIxe and T28W phone; however, leaving the DI28 connected to the T28W leaves a lot to be desired. I use the standard horizontally-mounted phone case that came with the T28W. Unfortunately, the DI28 protrudes out when connected to the T28W. Not good. Since the DI28 becomes a physical extension to the T28W, I find it difficult to even consider it sturdy by any stretch of the imagination. As the photo above shows, charging the phone or using a hands-free device is out of the question. It's good for the occassional IR connection, but it requires some hand-juggling or a reasonably flat surface. It was for these limitations that I prefer my current setup, a VPL with a Visorphone.
