-- Does $5/month AT&T Worldnet Service work with Thinmodems? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=16014)
I ask this question becasue The $5/month service uses an ad banner to support the rest of the cost. If I use a program like rasspy to get my Real Username/Password will it work? Do I need to buy the $15/month service to get net access? I'm looking for a very widespread National ISP that's cheap. Either a 1-800 access number or tons of local numbers.

I am not sure about having to use rasspy to get your real username & password with the AT&T service.
We used these instructions configure my VPL/Thinmodem+ and my co-workers IIIc/modem. Works like a charm.
A couple of things to watch for:
1. Your username will be "[email protected]"
2. AT&T does not allow regular SMTP traffic over it's network. If you want to send POP mail, you will have to configure your client to use their servers (mailhost.worldnet.att) which is a pain if you ever use another ISP.
You may also want to grab the AT&T Dial Up Doc file from Memoware. Gives a pretty comprehensive list of dial up numbers around the US. I use this when I travel.

I use bluelight.com as my ISP with my thinmodem+ when travelling.
I believe they have national coverage, and you get 10 hrs. free/month.
I needed to use RASSpy to get uncoded user name for set up.
Hope this helps.
