Question Sprint Digital Link / Sprint PCS Wireles Web Confusion??

I think I've read every post related to the Digital Link and Sprint PCS on this site and Treocentral and I'm still not clear on a couple of things:

1. From what I can tell from the Sprint PCS website, regular PCS phones have some type of mini-browser so they can directly access the "PCS Wireless Web". Once on this site you can access a myriad of options (i.e. Messaging, Account Info, Finance, etc.). Ok, I have Blazer 2.0 on the Digital Link. What is the url that should enable me to access the above-mentioned info through Blazer? Is there some mobile/pda/wap site equivalent for the "PCS Wireless Web"?

2. How does the Short Mail feature suppose to work? The PCS site says it's suppose to work on any PCS Internet-Ready phone. Does that mean if a Short Mail message is sent from the PCS website, is the message suppose to just pop up in Blazer?

Can anyone shed some light on these issues?

Thanx,
David

David:

On Q#1 what I was told is the DL does not support that function.

On Q#2 I am less helpful.... you can receive SMS messages, and you can use something like the Eudora EIS

http://www.eudora.com/internetsuite/

to get/sync. mail I beleive. I have installed it but not had time to play with it.........

Hi, guys... here's a lil more info.

Regular phones (non-visor & non-vision) can do text-only wireless web if you subscribe to the option with sprint. My kyocera phone did that, which is why I got sick of it and upgraded to the visor platinum with the wireless web digital link. With the WWDL, I am able to view web pages almost as if I were on a desktop/laptop computer.

Now, to answer your question about a url to access the features you would normally see with the text-only phone, just bring up "browse web" on the visor (aka blazer) and tap the little house in the upper right hand corner and that should take you to the same menu ("PCS Web"). You can change what you see here on the sprint web site under your account.

As for the SMS messaging, I've been trying to find a way to send them, but have hit a brick wall other than just using Eudora to email someone. You can receive them easily by having someone email you at: [email protected]. If you send to someone else, just use the same format number@whatever their provider address is. It will just pop up without being connected to the web and doesn't come out of your minutes, but your quota for wireless web messages.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!

What version of Blazer are you running on your Platinum? Are you able to view your Sprint PCS account info through Blazer?

Thanks,
David

Hi, David, you're welcome.

I'm running blazer 2.0 that I got off the cd that came with my module. Once I use the little house icon inside blazer and it loads the sprint web thing, I can go to account usage, etc. The main things I have trouble loading with the browser are pages with javascript and sometimes ebay won't load at all and crashes the pda to where I have to do a hard reset and resync, etc. I need to get one of the 8MB backup modules to do a quick restore from when I'm away from home since that's when it seems to crash the most. *laugh*

If I can be of anymore help, feel free to email me. [email protected]

PCS URL

When I updated to Blazer 2.0 my homepage was replaced with the handspring site, so I had to manually reenter the URL. I can't remember where I found this, but this is the sprintpcs URL: http://pda.sprintpcs.com/palmportal/index.html
