Spot the error!
Found this on the VC home page... I think there's something wrong here.

Well, the HotSync button from the HS modem is still there, the Prism looks somewhat grayscale, not color, but that may be the lighting. And, from what I gather, I thought the device was to power units with AAA NiMH batteries. Clearly the Prism doesn't use these.
What I thought they meant was that the Emergency Charger used NiMH batteries so you could recharge them rather than replacing them when they are dead. I wonder if you can use Alkaline batteries in there too?

Re: Spot the error!
What's wrong? The Emergency Charger would still be useable with a Prism. It supplies power... the Prism doesn't care where it comes from. As for the button on the module, if they're using the standard HS Modem module available from ATL, it's built-in. As for alkaline batteries... I'd say you could use them as long as you don't use a charging cradle/cable since the module is supposed to recharge the NiMH's while in the Visor.

Are you sure of that Mark? If so, then why doesn't the VisorPhone (if fully charged) power a minimally charged Prism? Is there some sort of 1 way circuit that only allows the battery to power the phone, but still allow the battery on the phone to be charged through the SB slot?
I thought the "wrong" thing was that the charger allows for charging batteries through the SB slot, so you can replace them in your non-charging visor. With the Prism, you can't replace the batteries.
quote:I'm guessing that there's a cable to attach the module to the hotsync port to provide power to the handheld since the Springboard slot cannot supply power back to the Visor. I also think it's using NiMH's simple to make it a rechargeable device instead of having to buy new bateries all the time.

Thanks Mark! You are probably right on that. Their website doesn't seem to mention the module/charger yet that I could find, and I didn't see any jack for the addition of a plug, but it does make sense that it would function that way...
quote:All their other chargers work that way which is why I made my assumptions. I think the difference with this NiMH model is that (a) it can be recharged in the Visor with a charging cradle/cable, and (b) it can be carried in the Visor and not as a seperate accessory (unless, of course, you're using other modules).
