Software dialer

I have tried to use PhoneMate and Action Name 5.0 with my VP but with no luck. Is there something missing that I can't get either of these software packages to work?

With PhoneMate, when I try to dial I get an error that I need to install some IR software from the Palm site. I previously tried this download and install, no change, no luck.

With Action Names, when I tap on the phone number I get the details of the contact.

Is my VP lame? Why doesn't it play well with others?

weird. my vp works with both.

does your visor dial fine the other ways? like can you cut and paste numbers like in the manual? or dial from the phone address app?

I can dial with the address book, copy and paste to the number keyboard, etc. (I remember reading that you were able to highlight a number in another app, press the phone button, and the phone would dial the number. No luck there)

Did you have to install the palm IR software? (Do you know what screen I'm talking about in AN?)

I can get on the internet using Earthlink and the VoiceStream ISP deal.

I've run out of ideas...

i didn't install anything extra for the vp, no. in AN, i just went into the regular contact area and tapped on the number and it asks if i want to dial (just like in the manual). however, gotta have the phone in and powered on.

it sounds to me like you got a bum VP. i'd call handspring--then again, if their app works with it, they may not help you. i would not mention the other apps, though.
