-- Samsung Phones <=> Visor Connectivity (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11566)
John,
I still haven't received a notice that mine has shipped. I will post a message when I do, so that you will know if it is safe to order or not.
GOT IT!
My supplynet cable (Samsung to Prism) arrived UPS today. To test it out, I quickly dl'd Blazer to my Prism, set up the Prism for using SprintPCS direct connect (the #2932 method) and lo and behold I was browsing on my Prism through my Samsung 8500! Piece of cake.
Next I have to set up my email - the more important need for me when on the road. Will likely try Eudura suite for this. But at least I know I can make a connection to the net with just my Prism and cell phone. Will try email tonight or tomorrow - and will report results.
The cable itself is about 10 inches long, including the connectors. It attaches securely at both ends. My only annoyance was that on the phone with Robert Berkey at SupplyNet, when I suggested stopping by their office to pick it up (I was in the area last week) he said they weren't in yet, but shipping was "only $3 or 3.50". Well they charged over $6 for shipping - I can drive to their place in less than an hour! Pretty expensive little cable!

Mine shipped 2nd day air yesterday, so I should get it tomorrow. (I didn't have an option to do ground shipping when I ordered!) I never got a notice that it shipped, but they told me when I e-mailed them.
As promised - a follow-up. I have my Prism, SprintPCS Samsung 8500 and supply net cable all happily connected. Yesterday, using Blazer I connected to the web. Today, I downloaded Eudora suite and set up my email. I am able to dial up, check two different email accounts and then disconnect. If I want to compose mail or reply, I can do it offline, and just connect to send. I like the Eurora mail program - it suits my needs very well so far.
I also tried the Eudora Browser, but I think I like the Blazer browser better.
In addition to dialing in to Sprint direct, I also set up to dial Prodigy. I found I have to pick which network in Preferences first before starting up the mail or web program. They both dial the last selected network. I guess I would have preferred that when you say to connect, it popped up a dialog letting you select the network. A minor inconvenience.
I was going to buy a modem, but now I really don't think I'll need it - this set up should serve me fine when travelling.

Got mine today. Slower than I would like, but I figured it'd be pretty slow anyway.
On a side note, I ordered mine back when these were still $29.95 and have the e-mail receipt to confirm that. However, my packing list showed a price of $39.95, and even more shipping than I originally paid. I sent them an e-mail, and I will let all know if they correct the problem.
Received my cable for the 3500 today. Works like a champ! Almost plug-n-play!
Less than a minute configuring it in preferences, and then used Eudora mail and Eudora Web with no problems!!
Thanks supplynet!
Well worth the wait.

Can anyone help me out with settings for outgoing e-mail? I keep getting a message that the outgoing server is rejecting the recipients or whatever. I'm getting the same message with a couple different SMTP servers and with both Eudora and Iambic Mail, so I'm wondering if it has to do with Sprint.
Using supplynet cable with a PC
I know it is possible to use the MarkSpace cable with the Samsung data cable to connect my Visor to my SCH-3500 phone (thanks to you guys
). I have ordered a single cable from supplynet to do this and was wondering if I can use this cable with another cable to connect my PC to my phone.
Nevermind, stupid question. I would need a cable that has a female Visor termination...

Probably your ISP isn't happy with relaying your smtp mail through another party (sprint). I have the same problems here at work, I can receive but not send. what you can do is set up (another) web-based account like yahoo mail or mac.com if you are an apple guy, and they should let you send from practically anywhere. Or if you have an AOL account you can use the AOL client for the palm just fine...
Supplynet to Samsung using SprintPCS
The little cable came today and they charged the agreed to amount: $29.95+shipping. It works like a champ with QNC. Finally got a good reason to install Avantgo. The color is wonderful on the Prism. Now to install other products, test ISPs, PQAs...
There is definitely a "cool factor" going on here!
SupplyNet did me right and credited me back the money for the overcharge. Now I can recommend them. The cable itself works great!
Yarrrr
Tis troubling. Followed this thread with great fervor and got my Supplynet cable today. I plugged everything in, and avast, it's not working. I've got the SCH-3500, with wireless web option, and a visor delux. I plug the phone to the visor, and in Preferences/Modem, I change the settings to Standard/14,400/Off (speaker)/Off (Flow Control)/ Other and my String is AT&FX4. I then go to create a new service, which I call sprint. User Name is web, Password is web, and phone is #2932. Conection is PPP, DNS is checked, and IP address is checked and automatic.
I then turn the phone on, and under the Spring service I tap connect. It tries twice, the phone just sits there, mocking me with it's cold eyes, and then the PDA gives me a "Error: Modem not found (0x1106)"
What am I doing wrong?
I have received the same message at times, and found that it normally resulted from a weak signal for the cellphone.
From what you wrote, it sure seems that your settings are correct. Maybe verify that your connections are firm. I couldn't connect once, and just had to firmly seat both ends of the cable and it connected just fine.
Know these are both obvious, but tis what worked.

Just reread your post closer.
I do not connect from the preferences menu.
I connect directly from the software package. Example: Using Eudora (email) I select 'file' - 'check mail'
Eudora then establishes the connection for me. Has worked without problems this way.
Hope that helps
Thanks for the help, but my connectors are firm (huh-huh, huh-huh) and I cannot connect from a software package either - it continues to tell me that it cannot find a modem. Is there something I should be doing with my phone?
In modem settings:
Assume that 'Touch Tone' is selected?
Other than that, every setting is identical to mine.
I don't do anything with the phone except have it powered up.

Take advantage of your warranty
I had heard some 3500's were flakey. Take it into a Sprint store and ask them to try using it with a laptop. If that works you know the phone isn't to blame. If it is flakey, you can try to get them to a) make sure the phone's firmware is up to date; or more likely, b) exchange the phone for a new one.
I had this problem in the beginning, and they gladly swapped out the phone while I waited.
Do this...
Almost forgot - the major issue I always seem to have is that the Visor needs to be turned off before you plug in the cable. Not only that, but I sometimes have to soft-reset it first, just to clear out the serial port.
Try soft-resetting the visor, then turn it off and then plug in the phone cable. That works for me every time. Sometimes I get a modem not found error if I don't soft-reset.
