-- Yada Yada: error 1212 (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10802)
I have had my Minstrel S for three days now and have not been able to get on the web. I have great signal strength and get signed on. As soon as I open the browser it says "Looking for server" and then times out with the error message "Error 1212 Unable to find server. Please try again. If the problem persists check settings->network"
I have been on with tech support at least ten times and have gone over all the settings over and over without a solution. Anybody else have this problem and if you have solved it, what did you do.
Thanks,
Scott J.
I'd get that when my Minstrel would go brain-dead and off to la-la land. The signal led would stop flashing looking like it "had" a locked signal, but I noticed if I pulled the antenna out , it didn't affect it! I would suspect that it's off in la-la land and you don't really have a connection. Well that's what the error really means anyway.
The only way around this was to power off the modem (with the power switch program) (and/or warm reset) grab a hunk of tinfoil and roll it up, replace my "stub" antenna with the "tin foil antenna" to get a "real" signal.
I've also noticed this happening if another program I was previously using closed the connection (Palmscape does this from time to time).. In that case I just turned off the modem (via the power switch program) and re-connected.
After 8 straight days with YY tech support I finally got on the internet for the first time. Here was the problem that no one could find. It was a conflict of having been assigned an IP address on ATT's network and having a SPI code for Verizon's network on my Minstrel Config page. After finding this, I was given a new Verizon IP address and no more Error 1212.
