Question Internet access through USB Cradle

Hello out there,
I don't know if anyone asked already the same thing but I would like to know if there is any way to connect a prism through it's USB cradle to a windows 2000 pc that has a working internet connection in order to browse the internet online.
Furthermore, it would be interesting how I can use the same connection for accessing an other pc that is on the same Local area network as the the host pc with a telnet program.
I use my win2000 pc to telnet to unix machine and I would like to do the same with the visor.
Thank you for any reply....

Yes, it's been asked before... no, it can't be done. There's no app available for the Visor that supports PPP over the USB connection (even the serial options don't work very smoothly).

And again, I ask why? You're at your desktop (which already has all the connectivity you want) and yet you still want to access the 'net or local LAN from a handheld... it baffles me everytime this question is raised.

Arrow Baffles me too

This questions always baffle me as well. Same thing with the wired Ethernet Module or cradle.

Maybe so they can save web pages with information they don't want to enter manually? Avantgo might be good for this.

First let me thank you all for your replies.
Second let me tell you that the reason i am asking is that we are developing our company web-pages to be viewable by PDA's and as i am a proud owner of a Prism (with the Visor-Phone) i would like to check them on my visor without having to connect to our intranet through my gsm provider.

Thank you again,
maybe you could tell me how i can upload then some html pages for "offline" viewing

With Regards,
George Vangelis

I think AvantGo would be a good place to start in order to see how your pages look on the PDA. You can specify any URL in your Channel Manager or they have an AutoChannel feature that will (attempt to) render any web page. AvantGo can also be used as an online browser with a modem or wireless connection.

Keep in mind that the browsing experience on an handheld isn't even close to that of the desktop. There's only so much one can do with a 160x160 display. Many things, like frames, scripting, etc, aren't even implemented.

Arrow Isilo

You can also load web pages into your Visor using Isilo and the Isiloweb desktop app. It does a pretty decent job and now wupport VFS (if you have a CF or SD memory card).

Why? My case for a ethernet cradle: I have a W2K Pro machine with ICS. My house is wired. I have an iBook in one room, sometimes I bring my notebook from work and plug into the hub. It's a two stories house. Wouldn't be cool to watch TV and just grab the Prism, enter http://www.imdb.com and look up info a movie? Or just check whats on tonight? Or check e-mail without going downstairs or having a notebook around the lounge?

Of couse, if I'm close to one of the other machines I would prefer 1000 times to use the internet there, but I don't want to go downstairs and upstairs just to check what movie is on the theathers tonight...

Convenience? Lazyness?

And that'll be cheaper than the Xircom Ethernet springboard + Ethernet wireless hub... Or cheaper than a USB Bluetooth plugin for the server plus one bluthooth springboard...

Now this I can relate to... I have no problem with a wired Ethernet connection because, as you say, you can be in any room in the house (what? your house ain't wired yet? ), or any office in the building, and connect with the Visor. Anything using the USB or serial cradles (or cables) basically puts you no more than 6 feet from the desktop... if I'm going to be that close to it, I'm going to use it!

As for those last 2 questions... can you say "schweeeeet!!!"?
