Xircom Wireless Ethernet...help.
Ok, my T|C is off getting a new screen. (Very bottom didn't respond to taps.)
In the mean time, I picked up a Xircom 802.11b springboard to use with my Edge.
I'm attempting to connect to a D-Link Access Point that's connected to my router in my house.
I'm able to establish a connection, and seem to stay connected. However, when I start up Blazer (or EudoraWeb), and try to load a site, nothing will come up. (It eventually times out, and says it can't find the site.)
However, signal strength from the Xircom app show a full strength signal, and I've successfully used this setup with my T|C for a couple months w/o a hiccup.
Only thing I'm seeing is the Yellow light seems to blink like crazy whenever I'm connected. Even though I don't really think it should be....I mean, its not loading anything, as Blazer reports its trying to connect...
I updated the modules firmware, to the latest 1.15 (I think). So I think I'm all set there.
I've also tried to keep it simple, no SSID (yet), no encryption (yet), no password...etc. It should be open to anything that wants to get online.
Any suggestions?

If you go WAY back in this section you'll see other people who have gone through all this. I would first sugest you put in an SSID. The Xircom won't work if you don't specify that. Besides your wireless router usually had an SSID default already put in. The Xircom won't work if the SSID isn't broadcast either (that's one of the newer options on wireless routers) I'm sure that I listed all the settings that i had in both my Handspring and the D-Link 614+ that i use.

Yeah, after I put in a bogus SSID, it began working. Works perfectly now...and has better range than my T|C.

Good, don't forget to unplug the Xircom module when you're not using it. It eats the batteries otherwise. I found that transfering a copy of the email programmes to the Handspring from the Xircom also allows you to write your email without the module having to be plugged in.
