Voicestream Surfing and Updating the SIM

First, I still can't surf on the Internet as per the ISDN instructions left here on this board, you know, Connections, Serial to Modem, do not query dns, the string code, bla bla bla. I double and TRIPLE checked the settings, I'm getting frustrated.

I've gotten the point where it tries to connect, but I get Dialing iStream Servive Connection Progress, I can tell RF is going out because I can hear it in my speakers, it retries, reads Dialing iSTream again, then I get the ...

"Error: no carrier (0x1102)"
... message.

What gives?

UPDATING SIMS
On my actual phone, the Ericsson T28 World phone, I can can go to myvoicestream.com and enter in 11 names and phone numbers and receive a message on my phone after hitting enter saying basically, "Your SIM card has been updated" and lo and behold! the phone numbers are now in my phone!

I did that but it seems visorphone does not support this. Does not seem to read the 100 phone numbers stored on my card either, I have no contacts other than what I put it my Prism.

What's the story HERE?

Thanks again, I DO appreaciate all your help, I believe in customer service and if they're not good enough, the WE should be.

RE: network connection

Which phone number have you been dialing?

RE: numbers on SIM

You can use the "Phonebook" application that is in the VisorPhone ROM to copy numbers from you SIM to the Speed Dial database.

My settings

Connections:
Name: Visor Phone
Method: Serial to Modem
Dialing: TouchTone TM
Volume: Off

Details:
Speed: 57,600 bps
Flow CTL: Automatic
Init String: AT&F+CBST=71,0,1;&W

Network
Service: iStream
User Name: [space]
Password: [space}
Connection: Visor Phone
Phone: 19132440821

Details:
Connection type: PPP
Idle Timeout: 3 minutes
Query DNS: [unchecked]
Primary DNS: 65.161.188.100
Secondary DNS: [blank]
IP Adreess: [checked] Automatic

What am I doing wrong? Is the init string correct? Primary DNS? I saw the last set as being either 100 or 0.

Thanks!

Re: My settings

I've posted the differences in my setup below.

Also, I'm assuming your "script" entry of your network setting is empty.

ARRGHH! VP Turns OFF now.

I tried your settings and now my VP turns off and it reads, "Modem cannot be found".

This is getting to be a real pain.

Also, why does the VP occasionally turn itself off? Is there a way that I can have it always on? I'd hate to miss a call and realize it was off all this time.

Thanks!

Hmmph. Well, I'm not sure what to say here... It worked pretty well for me the first time around so I didn't have to do much fiddling with it.

I've seen this happen when it has no service for some extended period of time. When there is no service, the battery use is typically much greater, so it seems to turn itself off to conserve batteries.

I also use the same voicestream settings posted by Briguy to connect to the internet. It has been working fine for close to a year with occasional istances where I get the "Error: no carrier (0x1102)" message (once or twice in the last year). This usually only lasts a day or two, but I have been having this same problem for at least the last 4-5 days. Anyway, your settings are fine, maybe it's something with voicestream.

Voicestream and Location

I'm just outside New York City. I've been using the number 12034349933 (A CT number). Is anyone else having this same trouble? I'm almost positive it's not my settings because I haven't changed them all year. I'll keep trying and post if I have any success.
