Anyone purchase a VP from Handspring lately?
Hi all, I was thinking about making the VP purchase from Handspring. I have had my Deluxe for about a year and I am yearning to get wireless with it. I remember a few months back people saying it was taking months for it to come in from Handspring. Does anyone know what the wait time is now a days? Also does anyone have any reasons why I should avoid the VP purchase. I would like to use my cell phone I have now to connect, but unfortunatly I have Cingular in FL which is CDMA and I have not been able to find a way to go wireless with it. Thanks for any input!!!

I've got one I'd let go for cheap... no chip but you can get that from the service provider.

Yes, I just got my VP yesterday. I ordered it Wednesday and with standard ground shipping, it only took two days.
I love the VP! I've only had it for less than a day, but it's a very, very impressive product. I got it on a trial basis, and if it works well I'll go for a Treo. The VP was free, so there's nothing to lose!
Thanks for the input... How did you get a trial offer? That is the one reason I am so hesitant becasue of signing a 1 year contract with Voicestream.
I've had my VisorPhone for about a year now, and I've loved it! I find it very convenient to have these two products in one rather than carry around two items.
About the one year contract, consider this.....if you going to get a mobile phone, you usually have to sign a contract anyway....unless you're already on a plan. If you're ready for a new service, just get the free VP and activate the 1 year service contract.
Being able to make phone calls, send SMS messages, check e-mail, and surf the web ANYWHERE has been very valuable to me....also a very high cool/geek factor...whichever way you look at it. Although the VP/Visor combination is a bit old, I still get tons of compliments on how cool it all works. You can do this with your Visor ONLY with the Visor Phone.
BTW, you can send and receive SMS messages when you're talking on the phone. I was pleasantly surprised one day when I was on a phone call (using ear piece) and an SMS message came though. I continued my conversation and replied to the SMS at the same time.
Another comment about the Visor Phone....I have the HS case that exactly fits the VisorPhone and Visor. I used to alway pull the Visor out from the VP antenna until I started noticing some stress cracks around the antenna. I now pull it out using the sides of the VP to prevent further cracking. Be careful with your VPs so that you don't break the antenna area.

Love it more than anything
The Visor Phone is definitly one of the best springboard modules. Why? Cause its free and yet it gives you the ability to do practically anything phone connection wise. Surfing the internet, checking your mail, SMS messages and talking to people anywhere is truly very KEWL.
The only bad part was shipping for me because even if you order the fastest shipping, you have to wait for Handspring to contact the phone service and wait for the phone service to make your account. Then once the phone service gives the OK to Handspring is when it is shipped. It took about a week but it was well worth the wait.
Get a Visor phone and enjoy it.
Jonathan

Thanks.

Whats Wrong?
I dunno what I am doing wrong with trying to make this connection. When you mean user name and password as single space does that mean just do a normal graffiti space? I keep getting Error-No Carrier. And under prefs->Modem-> is Connection method Serial to Modem? And does this work with VisorPhone or just a Visor connected to a VoiceStream phone like a Nokia phone? Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Visor Phone
Howdy all,
Just to pop in my $.02, I've had a VP for several months and LOVE it! Phone, email, web/blazer, SMS, the whole enchilda works very well. I set up the settings for dialing into VoiceStream's number from other posts on this message board. I'm in NYC and use VoiceStream with no problems. You do have to futz around yourself to get everything set up because no one at Handspring or VStream knows anything about the VPhone. Nonetheless, I love it. It comes bundled with software, I use One Touch for email, which is a super app. I recently had a small problem with it and their tech support was very helpful. I ordered it on line (Hey, it's FREE!) and I received it in less than a week. The V

ooops... sorry. Anyway, as I was saying, the VPhone is cool.
Question: does anyone have a VPhone battery they want to sell?
Thanks,
