VisorPhone services in Chicago

So, I'm happily in the market for a new cell phone and plan. In fact, my first. Oh happy day that this coincides with the new pricing. However, here are my own questions:

1. Just how good is the VoiceStream services in Chicago and nationwide? Especially in comparison to AT&T Wireless services.

2. Beyond just the services, how well has the VP operated in the Chicago market for anyone who uses it there?

3. Finally, VoiceStream slaims that "data-services" are an extra 29.95/mo for 1500 mins. If I have a local ISP can't I just log-in to that through the VP...get the content I need...and use my regular part of the plan minutes? or do I need the "data" extra option?
