-- Advertising banners appropriate? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=4356)

Unhappy

I really enjoy the site, I've learned a ton, and it is a great resource for me about my Visor. However, I must say that I am really disappointed in some of the advertisements that are here, not for the sites that they are advertising, rather for the things that are shown. i.e. one has a girl drawn with a large chest in a small pink bikini, another a girl laying down with both butt cheeks showing with a silver thong or somesuch on. My wife looked at me yesterday and said, "What are you looking at with those pictures on the screen?" Can you please have them tone the banners down a tad? Otherwise I will be having to go someplace else for my info. The majority of ads are not of this type, so when I see them, they stand out.

Thanks,
Mike

I agree...I was looking around this site once when there was a Playboy banner ad.

Different wife...same questions

While we don't have any direct control of which banners are shown, we have blocked all banners containing material of this nature.

It seems like this one fell through the crack. If I know the company name I can block it manually. Do you remember what company it was advertising?

Talking

Marcus,

I really appreciated the reply. I do not remember the name of the companies being advertised, if I see them again I will let you know. I was really thinking when I posted the topic, there are people going to think that I am being a prude :-) Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the work that you guys are putting into the site. BTW, do you get paid just for the banner ad being placed or for clicks through the banners? If clicks through let me know, and I'll start clicking through some of em :-)

Mike

Skief,

I understand your issue. Personally I'm a very openminded person, but since I like to check VC at work I have the same problem.

I understand that money talks and sex sells, but it can get us VC-members in awkward situations...
