I think many of us are looking to move to a non Handspring PDA device. I really think that Visorcentral is the best discussion board I have seen and perhaps its time to expand it so us users can discuss what PDA's we are looking to get or already have.

While I don't think discussion should be limited to only visors, there already is a forum for discussing other handhelds: the 'All Handhelds' forum. Right now there is a lot of activity because of all the recent releases (and leaks). Perhaps we should wait and see how much activity there is after the hype over new devices has died down to decide if we need to split it up into multiple device-specific forums.

I think the thing that has made VC work so well, and such a fast many topiced foroum, is that we are dedicated to one thing. If we broaden things up, evnetually we lose the visorcentral, and become a pdacentral. I am aganst it. We have a topic for discusing other PDAs. what I think MIGHT be more appropraite is a Palm OS Other, and an Other Other. Just a thought.

If you are looking to move to a non-handspring device, maybe you should move to a non-handspring board also. By the name alone you should know that this site is dedicated to the handspring units. It may hint upon other devices every once in a while, but 99% of it is Handspring and should always stay that way. There are other boards on the net that are devoted to just Palm, try those.

spinoff

I think visorcentral is doing so good, they should spinoff into different sites for different handhelds.

VC is a good board because of the people who post here. Nearly every one here is thoughtful, civilized, and passionate about their Visors. If the site branches off into other PDAs, you may or may not get the same people or type of people posting there.

At the most, VC could resurrect the "Palm OS Compatibles" board, which would be separate from the "All Handhelds" board, but I prefer narrowcasting. It's better to be explicit about your bias, like VisorCentral, than to pretend to cover all platforms, like PDAGeek (essentially a Psion/Blackberry site) or PDABuzz (essentially a PPC site). Visors should be central at VisorCentral. There's more than enough space for discussion of competing platforms and products here as it is.

VisorCentral is better than any other PalmOS-related discussion board out there. There are many reasons -- the members, the board software, the large number of posts, etc. I think that VC's usefulness and usability would only be diluted by too much discussion of other Palm OS devices.

I don't know how many of VC's members are in the same boat as me though. Because of the number of SpringBoards that I've purchased, I'm pretty much tied to Handspring's Visor products...
