Use cell phone and PDA for intenet and also Thumboard or SnapNType?

Hi,
Is there a thread on how to use a cellular phone with wireless internet for email? Also it would be ideal to have either the Thumboard or SnapNType keyboard but do these take up the connector that would be used for the cellular internet connection? I'm most interested in links that will get me set up on the phone with my Visor Platinum.
Thank you in advance!!!
dave

If you're using a cable to connect the Visor to a cell phone, none of the external keyboards available will work since they all use the hotsync connector.

Also you can't use an external keyboard & IRda, as the keyboard locks the serial connection.

Thank you. How to get Nextel cell to work w/Platinum

Thank you very much for the words of wisdom.

Any ideas on how to get the cellular phone to work. I have at Nextel (Motorola i1000). I'd really like to find out how to get the Nextel to hook into my Visor Platinum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Nextel shows some Palm listed interconnecting cables but nothing for Handspring. What to do?

Check out some of the available cellular cables for the Visor.

Question

I am also interested in the same concept! I am wondering if a cable can be made or is already available to connect multiple devices to the Visor....(ie. a cell phone & external GPS) This would be similar in concept and design as the Motorola Dual Port Adapter Cable (Y Cable) Part#: NKN6540........basically a "Dual port hotsync adapter cable"!

(http://www.idenstore.com/dr/v2/ec_M...amp;V3=&V4=) I have a nextel i50sx and would like to be able to connect this and another device at the same time. Is this a realistic possibility?

Thanks

I doubt it would work without some sort of software driver on the Visor. The serial port implementation is not true RS-232. There are no control lines and TX and RX are TTL-level signals. There would be no way for the handheld to know which device was doing what.

I did try adding some jumper wires to connect both my Stowaway and StarTAC to the VDx. My trusty companion just froze and the phone made some very interesting sounds, beeps, and chirps.

An expensive way to do this would be to use the EFIG springboard (has an rs232 port) to connect to your cellphone which frees up the bottom port for connection to your keyboard.

rmapes-

I read an article recently that said if you have a module plugged into the Springboard, the bottom port is disconnected. Can anyone confirm this?

My dream application would be this: plug in my GPS to the Springboard and transmit the coordinates over the cell phone to a remote location. Obviously, if what I have read is true, then this can't happen!

Have a good one!

I have an EFIG and I have connected it to my GPS at the same time I was surfing the internet over my cell phone connected to the bottom port. Additionally I haven't had a problem using my flashadapter CF while connected to my cellphone.

Well, I'll have to give it a try! I just got the VDx->cell phone cable a few weeks ago, so I haven't been in a situation where I was using the GPS and cell phone at time.

Thanks for the info!

I use my Platinum with my Sprint Kyocera phone and a cable. Works great with Blazer and Eudora. Be advised with Sprint however that if you don't have wireless web subscription they charge outrageous fees for the data calls.

Question

Somewhere here I saw a reference to a source of cables between a Visor and Ericsson T28 phones - GSM, Cingular.

Has anyone tried this?

Does Visor central have search capabilities? I can't find a button
